Film, Television & Commercial Services. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

SAUDI ARABIA IS READY FOR
THE WORLD'S NEXT PRODUCTIONS.

For producers, Saudi Arabia now combines something rare: locations that still feel visually new to international audiences, expanding studio infrastructure, substantial government support for screen production and a production ecosystem developing at speed. IFX PIX helps turn those advantages into a workable production plan.

Incentive framework

UP TO 60%

cash rebate on eligible production expenditure

The Saudi Film Commission announced on 15 May 2026 that its updated cash rebate programme can provide incentives of up to 60% of eligible expenditure. The announcement described the update as part of the Kingdom's strategy to attract high quality productions and strengthen Saudi Arabia as a global filmmaking destination. Film Saudi's official website now promotes 'up to 60% cash rebate on film production costs in Saudi Arabia'.

The programme is presented as 'up to 60%' rather than as an automatic 60% rebate. Qualification, eligible expenditure, evaluation, agreements, documentation and final payment are project specific and subject to current Film Commission terms.

IFX PIX provides production support and practical guidance but does not determine eligibility or guarantee a rebate. The Film Commission is the authority for eligibility, approvals and final rebate terms.

Eligibility & production scope

Who can potentially qualify?

Film Saudi's published FAQ states that feature films, animated films and documentary films may qualify, and that a company does not have to be Saudi based to be eligible. For international production companies filming in the Kingdom, the FAQ explains that companies need an appropriate Saudi commercial and investment structure or can collaborate with a Saudi production company to facilitate the process.

Production methodology

How IFX PIX works with you

From initial script breakdown and preliminary budgeting through on-the-ground physical production and eventual audit readiness.

01

Early feasibility

Review project scale, locations, schedule, specialist requirements and likely Saudi spend.

02

Local production structure

Act as or coordinate the Saudi production services partner, subject to the final legal and company structure agreed for the project.

03

Budget mapping

Identify categories of Saudi expenditure and suppliers so producers can model the local budget before committing.

04

Application support

Organize production information, budgets, schedules and local service data for submission through the official programme process.

05

Audit readiness

Encourage clean purchase orders, contracts, invoices, and cost reporting from day one so any eventual rebate claim can be substantiated.

06

No guarantee

All programme decisions, rates and qualifying costs remain with the Film Commission and the applicable incentive agreement.

Screen scenery

Saudi locations: a country that can play many worlds

The visual range of Saudi Arabia is a major part of the proposition. The Film Saudi website highlights desert, sea, islands, high mountains, local markets and historical sites. Explore the Kingdom by production use, not as a tourism gallery.

Essential clarifications

Producer FAQ

Practical answers for physical line producers, production managers and executives evaluating filming in the Kingdom.

Production unit at golden hour, IFX field team
Can an international company shoot in Saudi Arabia?

Yes. International productions can film in Saudi Arabia, but the correct commercial, permitting and production structure must be established. Film Saudi's FAQ notes that international companies may establish the required Saudi structure or collaborate with a Saudi production company.

Is the Saudi rebate really 60%?

The programme is presented as up to 60% of eligible expenditure, not an automatic 60% rebate. Qualification, eligible spend, evaluation and final payment are project specific and subject to current Film Commission terms.

How early should we contact IFX PIX?

As early as possible, ideally while the script, budget and schedule are still being shaped. Early feasibility lets us map locations, permits, crew and incentive opportunities before key decisions are locked.

Can Saudi Arabia double for other countries?

Very often. Deserts, mountains, coastline, historic sites and modern cities give the Kingdom a wide visual range. We can scout and propose locations against your script requirements.

Can you support action and technically difficult productions?

Yes. We plan and coordinate the specialist departments, licensed suppliers, engineering and safety planning that complex sequences need, so ambitious work is delivered safely, on schedule and within Saudi regulations.

What types of productions do you support?

Feature films, episodic television, documentaries, commercials, music content and high-end branded productions, from early feasibility through to wrap.

Will our script, budget and schedule stay confidential?

Yes. Everything you share is treated as confidential and used only to assess and plan your production. We are happy to work under an NDA.
